Geographically, Costa Rica serves as a natural land bridge connecting North and South America. Historically it played a major role in man's migration north to south, and the territory is still an important corridor for migrating birds and other animals.

Located 8 degrees above the equator, Costa Rica makes up less than .025 percent of the world's land mass but has 5% of the earth's flora and fauna.FONT>

Costa Rica has one of the longest lasting democracies in the Americas and does not have an army thus lives in peace with the world. The 4.1 million inhabitants consist of 94% whites, 3% blacks, 1% Indigenous, 1% Chinese and others. The majority of the population resides in the central valley with the blacks and Chinese mainly found on the Caribbean and indigenous in Guanacaste, the Caribbean and in the south.FONT>

Here life expectancy is 76, health care is free and education is on par with the USA. Costa Rica is the third richest in Latin America, with tourism being the number one industry, the government the number one employer, and Intel is the largest private company.
